Have fun running, keep fit, and fight middle age spread. Run consistently and injury free. Maintain a healthy balance between running and other life priorities. Encourage my ever-aging running buddies to keep running so we can continue to share runs on the trail instead of rocking chairs.

Personal:

Blessed to be married to Karen for 30 years. We have six children (4 daughters/2 sons) ages 16 to 30, and one wonderful granddaughter.

I ran just over 3.5 miles this morning and averaged around an 8:00/mi pace. I started out pretty slow for the first 1/2 mile. I felt pretty good so I pushed it up to just under 8:00/mi for 1.5 miles. There was some gradual downhill at that point and I easily pushed the pace a little more to around 7:15/mi which I held for the rest of the run (except for a block of uphill that was slower).

I could still feel a little soreness in my right thigh and calf, but overall I felt strong and energetic. I'm encouraged about being able to be fully recovered in time for St. George.

I'm happy to hear your recovery is going well. With more than a week to heal, you should be in great shape for St. George. How's Larry doing at this point? Right now I'm thinking of running last year's plan with a target of 3:30, but I'll have to see how I feel. My wife and one daughter have been sick the last week and I'm currently not feeling 100 percent, but I don't think health will be a factor.
